This course is ideal for adults who want to gain confidence and practical skills in digital communication, online safety, and using essential digital tools for everyday tasks. It suits those looking to build foundational digital skills for personal or work purposes, including:

  • People with basic computer experience (familiar with a keyboard, mouse, and internet navigation).
  • People looking to improve their online communication skills (email, messaging, and video calls).
  • Anyone interested in safely and efficiently using digital tools for shopping, organising files, or managing personal information.

What will I learn on this course?

The course focuses on key digital competencies to help you manage everyday tasks online and improve productivity. You’ll learn:

  • Communication Skills: Setting up and using email, social media, and messaging apps; making video calls; and formatting Word documents.
  • Handling Information: Identifying trustworthy sources, organising files, using Excel spreadsheets, and using OneDrive for safe file storage and collaboration.
  • Online Transactions: Filling in online forms, making online purchases, and using comparison sites to find deals.
  • Safety and Legal Knowledge: Protecting your personal information, managing passwords securely, and understanding your data privacy rights.
  • Problem-Solving with AI: Using AI tools like ChatGPT to draft emails, search for solutions, and enhance productivity.

  • Additional Digital Skills Development: Courses in Data Analysis or Digital Marketing if you wish to gain a deeper understanding of digital tools for work.

Course entry requirements:

To enrol in this course, learners should:

  • Have basic keyboard and mouse skills and be able to navigate websites and send/receive emails.
  • Ideally have completed an Entry Level 3 digital skills course or possess equivalent experience.
  • Have English language skills at Entry Level 3 or above to follow course content and engage with written materials.

How do I get a place on the course?
