CALAT is committed to ensuring the health and safety of all learners and staff, therefore delivery methods* of courses will be using blended learning techniques complying with government guidelines for social distancing in relation to Covid 19.

This may mean that your course content could be totally online or a combination of both classroom and online delivery. Initial assessments and enrolments will also be online or processed over the telephone using an online payment app.

*It is important to note, with such a fast moving situation, any delivery may be subject to change and updated in accordance with government guidelines in relation to Covid 19.

The ESOL Summer term will start Monday 27 April

Due to the social distancing restrictions in place we will be offering online learning only.

The summer term is only available to learners who were on a CALAT ESOL course last term.

To take part in the online learning you will need to have access to wifi, a computer and/or mobile phone.

 

Would you like to improve your English? CALAT offers courses in ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) for people who are settled in the UK, want to improve their English language skills, and gain nationally recognised qualifications.

Our qualified teachers will help you with your English for everyday life, you will study in a friendly, safe environment, meet new friends, gain confidence and learn employability skills.

At CALAT we can help you improve your English to help you continue your studies at college or university, improve your job prospects, or move on to a vocational course.

We offer classes for:

  • Pre-entry (beginners)*

  • Entry 1*, Entry 2* and Entry 3*

  • Level 1* and Level 2*

  • Functional Skills Entry 3 and Level 2

How to apply: To register you will need an email address. 

ESOL classes are free for learners seeking employment and receiving Job Seekers Allowance (JSA), ESA (WRAG) or other means-tested benefits. Courses run for 50, 70 or 110 hours per 10 week term.

The hourly fee for learners who work, or are not on benefits, will be £5.25 per hour. However, for those working and on a low income we offer a substantial discount on our fees. Please ask for an Access Fund form at reception or during assessments.

All learners are assessed and advised before they join a course. Please bring your passport or National ID Card, proof of benefit (if applicable), National Insurance Number, and payment for the course (if applicable).

ESOL classes run at all our centres throughout the week and on Saturdays at Strand House
